5GTR FM is a community organisation with over 50 volunteers and announcers from all areas of the community. Most members are involved for the love of it but some are also wanting to make a career in the radio industry.

Recent surveys show that almost half (47%) of listeners aged 15+ listening to community radio in an average month. * Refer to history section for full details.

5GTR supports local musicians and visiting musicians, covering local events and allowing recording artists live airplay to increase their exposure.

5GTR has seen many of its presenters move into Commerical and National Radio, demonstrating that the quality of our presentations is outstanding.

UnitingCare Pancake Day
Tuesday, February 5th 2008, 9-11am at Cave Gardens, Mount Gambier

UnitingCare South Australia and 5GTR FM present the 6th annual UnitingCare Pancake Day, Tuesday February 5th 2008. This event will be raising much needed funds for UnitingCare, one of Australia’s largest non-government community service providers, providing assistance to low income-earning Australians. Your community radio station, 5GTR will be holding an event between 9 and 11 am in the Cave Gardens, Commercial Street East, serving up pancakes. Battle of the Bands
Sunday, November 11th, 1:30pm at Shadows Entertainment Complex, Mt Gambier

With a low cost of $7.00 to get in bring the hole family to enjoy some great local talent at Shadows Entertainment Complex Sunday November 11. This was an all ages event, featuring eight bands from Mount Gambier and other local towns who entered the event to battle it out, for a first place prize worth $1200.00.

This years winner for 2007 was: Where Hope Prevails. Congratulations!

The event was to not only to raise funds for 5GTR but to give the local bands in the surrounding areas a chance be heard and recognized. Go Team.

Celebrity Red Faces Night
26th May 2007, Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre, Mount Gambier

The fundraiser was a wonderful night, 5GTR FM performed admirably, but were unable to claim the winning crown. All together, the night was very successful, with a generous amount of money going towards the Make A Wish Foundation. Thank you to all the participants that took part in a memorable nights performance.

 

Van Shaiks's Bio Gro 2007 Mayoral Gala Performance
28th April 2007, Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre, Mount Gambier

The premiere performing arts event in Mount Gambier was held in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre. And congratulations to the joint winners of the Mayoral Gala perfomance, Sara Wildy and Megan Roughana.

 

Stand Like Stone/5GTR FM Double Platinum Family Fun Night
16th March 2007, The Jail, Mount Gambier

The night was a great success, with the auction of two platinum records - Guns 'n Roses "Appetite For Destruction" and The Angels' "Liveline" taking place, as well as live music from local acts - including some of 5GTR FM's very own - , a sausage sizzle, and kids entertainment. All proceeds on the night from the auctioning of the platinum records went towards the Stand Like Stone Foundation.
